20 months

Azlyn is 20 Months! Here are a few things about her at 20 months.

  • Favorite books are
The B Book

Put Me In The Zoo

I'm A Big Sister

  • Favorite songs
Ring Around The Rosies. She learned this in nursery at church and came home saying ashes ashes, fall down. Took us a second to figure it out but we got it and she now asks to sing it all the time

ABC's She can now sing this the entire way through all by herself! I am working on getting it on video but she gets shy when she is being filmed and just wants to see herself.

Row Your Boat

Little House in the Middle of the Woods. She learned this one from her grandparents.

Once There Was a Snowman. She also learned this in Nursery and came home singing it. She seriously loves songs and picks them up super easy.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Wheels On The Bus

  • Favorite shows
Dora

Olivia

Little Einsteins

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

  • She talks a ton and will pretty much try to say everything. She is starting to talk in sentences. Some that she like to use a lot lately are
I get it.
I want it.
I try it.

  • She still takes a 2-3 hour nap a day. She usually still goes down between 12 and 1.
  • She still goes to bed at 8 and sleeps till about 8, though it depends on if Mathias wakes her up in the mornings.
  •  She is still wearing size 12-18 month clothes with some 18-24 month clothes.
  • Still in a size three diaper. Poor girl has a non-existent bum!
  • Her favorite things to play with is probably still her baby dolls.
  •  She has become quite the little mommy lately. I am excited to see her with the new baby.
  • Her hair is finally starting to really grow.
  • She loves kids! It seems she is fascinated by big kids.
  • She is starting to throw major tantrums. It seems like she only really throws them though when she doesn't understand something or when she is really tired.  She is generally still a really happy little girl most of the time though.
  • She loves to snuggle!
  • She would live on go-gurts and colby jack cheese sticks if we let her, and sometimes we do since that is the only thing she will eat on some days.

seriously

I seriously have a problem when it comes to buying dresses for Azlyn. She just has way too many of them. I can't seem to help myself when it comes to little dresses. They are all just so dang cute. Here are a couple of my favorite ones right now.

clothes

I seriously have a problem when it comes to little clothes! Mathias had way more clothes than any one child should, and still does. It didn't hurt that he was also the first grand baby on my side so he was a bit spoiled. It always drove me nuts when people said they could never find cute clothes for boys. Mathias had a ton.  So I knew I was going to be in trouble if I ever had a girl. Not because there clothes are necessarily cuter but there are just more of them out there in stores. Azlyn is also the first girl grand baby on my side.  So she is also spoiled and even more than Mathias was. I didn't think that was possible. I just have a hard time passing up cute little dresses for her especially when I find awesome deals! Anyways here are a some of my favorite outfits lately.

You have to love that even her skinny jeans are super baggy on her. This girl seriously needs to grow a butt!

so cute

Azlyn looked so cute at church today that I tried to get a picture of her when we got home. That proved to be near impossible but I still wanted to document it. So here is the best I could do. She is so much fun to dress!

First piggies!

I have been putting a little pony tail in Azlyn's hair for a couple of weeks now but today I decided to try and do some pig tails for the first time. I think they turned out too cute! Love that she is finally getting some hair to do something with and that she will sit fairly still for me to do it. If only she would leave it in all day!

little mommy

Little Miss Azlyn has become such a little mommy lately. She is constantly trying to put her clothes on her babies. She wants me to put diapers on them. She "wraps" them up in "blankets". How she does this usually is she puts her babies face down on the floor then puts a blanket (in the pictures she has her changing table cover) over them and then picks it all up. Pretty much anything can be a blanket. Towel, sheets, blankets, whatever she can find. She holds them up on her shoulder and says she is "nuggling" them. In the pictures she is trying to put her baby in her folded up stroller and cover it with her changing pad cover. She also was feeding a doll her mini wheats. I figured she would become a little mommy once her baby brother came but she has started doing it now. I think it is kinda funny because she doesn't have anywhere to learn all this from, she is just doing it all naturally. Sure do love this little lady and can't wait to see her with her baby brother.

P.S. don't mind the mess behind the stroller and the fact that she is naked and has crazy hair. Such is life!

nursery

My baby girl went to nursery in church today for the first time! I am pretty sure I had a harder time with it than she did. When I went to drop her off she wanted me to stay for a bit. Then I got her to get a baby doll and I slid out the door. When I went to check on her a few minutes later she was crying. My heart sunk. She is such a mommy's girl and a shy little one at that. I didn't go back in though. I figured if they needed me they would bring her out to me. I was on the verge of tears the whole time though. We were in the chapel practicing the primary program and one of the primary leaders asked me if I was ok, I guess I looked sad and I just broke down. She asked if it was because Azlyn was in nursery for the first time and all I could do was nod. I felt so silly. She said she would go check on her for me if I wanted and I said it was alright. It is so not fair to have these extra pregnancy hormones at this time. I don't know what my problem was. I wasn't this sad when Mathias went to nursery for the first time. I think the reason why is because I was working when Mathias was little and he didn't prefer me to anyone to where Azlyn is a total mamma's girl and is super shy because I have pretty much always been with her. I felt like I was abandoning her or something. Anyways, we made it through the day and she was just fine when I went to pick her up. My baby girl is growing up way too fast for me!

18 months

I know I say it all the time, but I really can't believe how fast my baby is growing up. I absolutely love this age. Azlyn is learning so much and becoming little miss independent. I thought I would jot down a few things about Azlyn at this age.

  • She is hilarious. We are always saying what a ham or a hoot she is. She will do something and then look at you to make sure you are watching. If you laugh she will then do it over and over again.
  • She loves animals. She is getting really good at animals and their sounds. She can do a cat, dog, bird, horse, owl, monkey, and cow. I think her favorite animal right now is the elephant. She is always pointing them out when she sees them.
  • She doesn't like flying bugs. She is alright with ants, spiders, etc but if something flies by her she will close her eyes, cover her face and fuss. It is kinda funny.
  • She LOVES to dance and pretty much does it anytime she hears music and sometimes she will even dance without music. She just kinda does squats to dance. She is gonna have some strong little legs.
  • She loves babies and baby dolls. She is turning into a little mommy. She will grab a baby doll and cover it up with anything that can resemble a blanket. She will hold it on her shoulder and pat its back and give it kisses. The other day she tried to put her baby in her stroller and I also caught her trying to feed it her cereal. It is so cute to watch. I figured she would do all this once we had our baby in Feb. since she would see me doing it, but she started doing this all on her own all of the sudden.
  • She is such a girl. She absolutely loves clothes, jewelry and shoes.  The other day I was bored and so I was looking at clothes in her size online and she came up and kept saying "oh cute, oh cute" over and over again. It was so funny. If we go into a store with shoes in it she says shoooooes over and over again and will grab some to try on. She loves shoes. She calls jewelry pretties. She loves bracelets and necklaces. All of this is kinda funny to me because I am not super girly in the fact that I don't have a ton of shoes, clothes or jewelery. It just goes to show that they really are born with their own personalities. Man, are we gonna be in trouble when she is a teenager!
  • She wears 12-18 months in clothes and is still in a size 3 diaper.
  • She talks a lot and speaks pretty clearly. She says a lot of words so I will just write down the ones that she says pretty much on a daily basis and things that she says that I think are kinda cute.
  • yogurt, nana (banana), bread, drink, milk ,bagel, chips, cheese, up, down, off, outside, grandma, grandpa, mama, daddy, Mat Mat (what she calls Mathias), Athias (another way of saying Mathias) kitty, button, book (this is also what she calls the ipad), blanket, mermaid (her favorite doll),whats that, cereal (she loves frosted mini wheats and eats them all the time) fishies (for gold fish crackers), carrot, fries, chicken, apple, messy, dirty, bug, ball, truck, peas (please), thank um (this is thank you. She would combine thank you and welcome), kisses, baby, nice, soft, walk, hat, keys, stuck, nigh night, swing, no no, all done, ouch, tickle (when she wants you to tickle her), mema, sock, shoe, pretty, funny, noisy, high five, rocks, eyes, nose, hair, ears, mouth, baby doll, dog, puppy,
  • Some off my favorite things she says are : keek-a-boo, stinkabum (when she has a dirty diaper), bless you (when you sneeze), oh sorry, oh bonk (when she bumps into something), nuggle (she says this when she is tired or scared and wants you to snuggle her), drop it (whenever she drops something), oh funny (she says this when she thinks she is being funny), let go, I have it, I want it.

Don't mind her messy hair. She is constantly taking her ponytails out.
  • She loves to read and is constantly briging me books or the ipad to read to her.
  • She is becoming Little Miss Independent. When it is time to eat, she wants her own fork or spoon to feed herself or she wants to help hold the spoon when you feed her.
  • She is still a major mamma's girl. This makes me a bit nervous for when the baby gets here.
  • She can point and tell you where her head, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, toes and belly button are.
  • Her favorite songs to be sung and she asks for them by name are : The ABC's (she can sing part of this by herself and will ask you to sing it by saying abcd) Twinkle Twinkle, Row Row Row Your Boat, You Are My Sunshine, Little Old House in the Middle of the Woods.
  • She takes one nap a day. She goes down at about 12:30 and usually sleeps for a couple of hours. She goes to bed at around 8 and sleeps till about 8:30.
  •  She is quite the monkey and loves to climb on the kitchen table and chairs as well as the couch and rocking chairs.
  • She loves to ask for and give high fives and then usually follows it up by asking to do rocks.
  • Her favorite shows to watch are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Bubble Guppies, and Wonder pets. Yes I know it is sad that she has favorite shows at 18 months. Oh well.

Here are her 18 month stats:
 Weight: 21 lbs 4 oz = 9.29 %
Height: 31.75 in = 51.82%
Head: 18.25in = 44.27%

For comparison here is Mathias at 18 months:
Weight: 27 lbs 5 oz = 66%
Height: 33.9 in = 85%

Mathias weighed what she does right now when he was about 7 months! Crazy!

mini wheats

Azlyn has become OBSESSED with frosted shredded mini wheats. She could seriously live on them if I let her. I guess it could be worse, at least they are a little bit healthy for you. Love that she is trying to feed them to her mermaid as well.

becoming miss independant

This little lady decided that she did not want to eat dinner tonight unless she could feed herself. She actually did pretty good with the spoon for a little bit, then gave up on the spoon and used her hands. After a minute of that she decided that the corn needed to be all over in her hair. She is such a funny little girl.
It is so amazing to me how different her and Mathias are as toddlers. Mathias didn't care to feed himself till after he was two. He was one that as long as food was quickly getting into his mouth he was happy. Azlyn, on the other hand, would rather starve and try to feed herself. She is so dang strong-willed and wants to be so independent!

tough girl

Azlyn slipped on something and hit her poor little head on the corner of our entertainment center on the way down. Of course she immediately started crying. However, when she saw that daddy had chips, she instantly stopped crying and wanted the chips. I can't believe how tough this little girl is. I know it really had to hurt but she only cried for maybe 30 seconds.

so big

This isn't the best picture because she wouldn't really sit still for me but I just thought she looked so big and cute in her new fall jammies and her slippers. I also like how it shows how she is with her blanket right now.

Hair!

So excited that baby girl is FINALLY getting some hair that we can actually pull in to a little pony tail and do stuff with! I guess I should be happy that it is taking its sweet time growing in, gives me some time to learn how to do hair...

girly girl

Azlyn found my lip gloss in the diaper bag, which she constantly gets into. She instantly sat right down with it and tried to get it open. After a minute of watching her I opened it and tried to put some on her lips for her but of course she stuck her tongue out. We eventually did get some on her lips though and she promptly rubbed them together like she knew exactly what she was doing. It is amazing what little ones pick up on.

She is such a girly girl and loves all things shoes, clothes, jewelry, and lip gloss. It is so funny to me to see this because I am not super girly that way. It just goes to show that they really are born with their very own little personalities.

church clothes

For some reason I am a sucker for little church clothes. Not just on little girls but on boys as well. I have noticed lately though how grown up Azlyn is looking while in her cute little church clothes. I just had to post a few pictures.

highchair

We have had Azlyn in her bumbo since she was about 4 months old. She is 16 months old now and still stitting in the bumbo on the kitchen table to eat with us. It has just been really convenient and easy for us to have her there and she still fits in it. However she is 16 months old and should probably be in a high chair by now. So we finally went to our storage unit, dug it out, and brought it home. She was so not happy about it and screamed when we first put her in there. After a minute or two and some treats she finally decided that it was ok.

corn on the cob

Grandma Brower was having some corn on the cob with her lunch today when Azlyn decided she wanted to try it.  So we put her in her bumbo (yes, she still sits in that to eat) and got to try it. She loved it!

dog door

Someone has officially found the dog door. Luckily she has not gone completely through it yet. Lets hope she never does!

clothing obsession

Little Miss Azlyn has found her clothes in her drawers lately. She is constantly taking them out and wrapping them around her leaving a trail of clothing behind her. I think we are gonna be in trouble come her teenage years!

"memaid"

Azlyn has become kinda obsessed with her Ariel doll that she got in her Easter basket. She calls it her memaid. It has become one of her little lovies besides her blanket. She grabs the hair and instantly inserts her thumb in her mouth. Although I am sure I won't like it in the future, it sure is really cute right now!
