soccer game

A few weeks ago, we went to watch the BYU men's team vs. the Real Salt Lake Reserves play at the BYU soccer stadium with some of our family and friends. The Reserves are the warm up team for Real, so they're one step below bench warmers. Don't hold your breath guys, I doubt you're going to make it to the Big Leagues. But from what I got to see of it (trying to wrangle a energetic two year old), it was pretty good.

Here is just a quick pic I got of the game, probably the most I saw of it.

(for some reson blogger turned this picture)

As you can see Mathias did not watch much of the game. He just ran around to his cousins and once he found his little jeep in his bag it was all over from there. Oh well, at least he kept himself entertained.

Devin's note: the game wasn't very exciting. Despite a 3-0 victory for Real, they dominated the entire game. What WAS funny, though, was that there was a cheap, dirt bag of a player on Real. I don't like people that are cheap. Physical, competitive soccer is fun, and if you can take it as well as dish it out without whining to the ref like a sissy, I don't mind playing that way. But when someone is out-right cheap and dirty, it chaps my hide. So when the Real player started playing like that, I started booing him every time he touched the ball. And not some small, soft booing either. I mean loud, use my entire diaghram booing. The first time I belted it out, it startled the two 12-year olds in front of us. The rest of the crowd followed my lead and soon I had the whole stadium booing right along with me. I felt some odd sense of pride knowing that I had lead 12,000+ fans in telling that POS player how we felt about his shenanigans.

going for a ride

The other day Mathias and I were playing with his mega blocks when I looked over and noticed that Izzie kitty was sitting in the mega blocks wagon. When I showed Mathias he immediately got up to take her for a ride.

He went straight outside with her. This made me a little nervous because she is strictly an inside cat. She suprised me though and just sat there and did not try to jump out.

She was a pretty good sport and let Mathias drag her around for a bit tell he got bored and went to play with something else. I just thought this was pretty funny and it surprised me that she actually stayed in the wagon.

Farm country

Once again, we got the family together and headed out to Thanksgiving Point, this time to the farm country. Once we got there, we checked out everything they had inside. Then we finally went outside to see all the animals. We started off by seeing the cows, then Mathias noticed the ponies that you can ride. From then on he just wanted to watch and ride them. Which he did, twice. We then made it over to the other animals but all Mathias was interested in where the chickens. Not sure why? After he was done checking out the chickens, we made our way over to the little town and played in the houses. We ended the day with grandma taking the grandkids on a wagon ride and then we all went to JCW's to get some very yummy shakes.

Little Einsteins

Mathias has a new favorite show lately. It is called Little Einsteins. I am happy the shows he loves are ones I can put up with. If you are not familiar with this show, it has 4 kids and their rocket and they have to complete a mission on each episode. I actually like this one because they highlight a composer and and artist on every episode and is pretty educational. Another bonus is that one of the kids on the show has red hair! Mathias has the opening song memorized and sings with it when it comes on (that sounds so bad, like all we do is watch TV - I promise we do more!). Anyways, here is a picture of Mathias enjoying his show on a lazy Saturday morning.

Family BBQ

Since Rick, Melissa, and Audrey have been in town for a couple of weeks we have done a lot of things with the family. We decided to have a little get together at our place to eat some pizza do a little swimming and just have fun.

Mathias decided that he wanted all the ice to himself.

OOH Heavy!

Some of the family.

Mathias had a sore bum so we decided to let him air it out a bit. It turns out that Mathias is one very modest boy. He would not move without that towel wrapped around his waist.

Mathias loves his grandpa and spent a good amount of time sitting over by him and telling him stories and eating away.

Here is little Miss Audrey going down the slide. Mathias, for some reason, will not go down slides lately. He did, however, go down this one after Audrey did. Look at that cute little happy face, she is just the cutest!

bath time

Posted by Picasa
Tonight while Mathias was in the bathtub I got online for a second (horrible mommy, I know) and would check on him every few minutes or whenever it got too quiet. Well, one time when I went in to check on him he was using his shampoo to wash his body (his top half was completely lathered) and he was just starting on his hair. I love that he is learning to bathe himself but I wish it did not take a half a bottle of shampoo, either way I thought it was pretty cute .

Sunday concert in the park

A couple of Sundays ago we got invited along with some friends to watch one of our other friends, Jim, perform in a little concert at a park in Lehi. He is really good. He played the guitar, some bongo type drums, and sang.

Here are a few pics of him performing with his friend Jay.

My little flirt surrounded by all the little ladies.

Our friends Jeri, her husband Joe, and then Mathias' favorite, Brian, watching the performance intently.

Thanks for this cute picture of Mathias Jeri!

After the concert we went and played on the park for a bit.

We then returned to our chairs and sat around and chatted for a bit until we started getting eaten alive by the mosquitos. It was a very fun, relaxing evening.

Daddy's socks

The other day Dev was getting ready to go somewhere and had his shoes and socks sitting beside him on the couch. Mathias quickly came over and took the socks away and tried to put them on. Dev had a few extra minutes and helped him put them on. I am not sure what he is doing in this picture.

It was pretty funny to watch him try to take the socks off though. For some reason he could not get them off by himself.

He then decided he needed them on his hands. What a silly little boy we have.

Creative

Mathias has a little motorcycle toy that came with a driver (a redhead at that) and a helmet. The driver does not stay on the dirt bike very well and he constantly asks for our help to put it back on. This is very obnoxious and after 100 times we told him no more. Well, while I was putting the toys away for the night I noticed that he stuck him in the driver seat of one of his jeeps. I thought that this was pretty creative and chuckled so i just had to take a picture. I know it is not much but I thought it was a pretty smart move on his part.

memory lane

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn’t matter if you knew me a little or a lot, if we’ve actually met in person or not, anything you remember about me!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I’ll assume you’re playing the game and I’ll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don’t want to play on your blog, or if you don’t have a blog, I’ll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Boondocks!

First off, let me apologize for the picture overload and all of the slide shows. We have done a ton of things this month with the Brower family and I took a million or so pictures and as always have a hard time deciding which ones to post so I post most of them.

A couple of weekends ago, we went to Boondocks with Dev's brother Rick, his wife Melissa, & their daughter Audry along with his sister Kelly, her husband Kevin, and their daughter Holly. It was so much fun. We spent ALL DAY ( 12:30 ish to about 8 ish). For as long as we were there and with no nap Mathias did really well - I was pretty surprised. We started off by going to the kids little jungle gym thing and then went outside to the bumper boats.

Here is Mathias giving us a cheeser as we waited in line for the boats. Silly kid!

We all got pretty soaked. Mathias was not a big fan of getting wet this way and spent the entire time with his hands over his ears (which he does when he is scared or mad). We went on these twice.

If this does not make you baby hungry, then I don't know if anything will. Little Miss Audrey is the most smiliest thing I have ever seen. It has been fun getting to spend some time with her. She is so stinking smart and cute!

Watching the "race cars" with daddy. This was pretty much heaven.

Here he is trying to sneak into the track and get to the cars. Didn't work so well for him.

After the bumper boats we made our way over to the race track. I am not a fan of these so I opted out and watched the kids.

While the adults where on the track Mathias made his way over to the batting cages and went straight for this helmet. I thought it was so cute I just had to take a few pics.

Then after a quick ice cream break we played some mini golf. My club and ball got taken over by Mathias, which was fine. He could probably play better than me anyways. He started off by trying to hit the ball the right way, then it turned it to a shuffle-type hit, then after the initial hit he would pick up the ball and put it in the hole. When we were waiting for everyone else it was my time to chase him around (getting very close to bed time with no nap). Check out the picture of Melissa with Audrey, she is playing mini golf with a sleeping ten-month old on her. That is pretty impressive for two reasons. One being she can play like that, and two Audrey slept through it all. We then went inside for a few more arcade games.

After the arcades Mathias went to check out what toys he could get with his tickets. He ended up with two bouncy balls and a sucker.

Mathias fell asleep just about the time it took us to get on the freeway. He was completely worn out, as were the rest of us. However we went straight home to grab some PJs and then took him over to my wonderful mother-in-law's so she could watch him for us and then we went to see the movie Hancock with everyone. What a long, fun day!

Sunday bike stroll

Mathias was not feeling the greatest this weekend. We think he was getting his two year molars and he had a cold to go with it. As a result of this, we decided not to take our ornery one to church. We, however, were going stir crazy just sitting in the house all day so we decided to go for a little bike ride. There are some fields of horses just a coupe of miles up the road so we decided to go and see them. Mathias loves animals and has not gotten up close to a horse yet and we figured he would love it.

Mathias was getting impatient to go (Dev was filling up his tires) so he tried to hook the trailer to my bike all by himself.

Here Dev is explaining that the barb wired fence has poky parts on it that will hurt if you touch them.

Running to see the horses.

Checking out the horses but making sure he kept his distance.

Dev is just getting ready to pick up Mathias and show him that it is ok to pet the horses.

Still not so sure about actually touching the horses. It took some persuading to do before he would finally do it.

Once he decided that it was ok he went straight for the horse's eye. This horse was very friendly though and it did not even seem to phase him. We quickly told Mathias that you don't touch their eye but you can pet above their nose or on their cheeks.

We kinda startled him though when we told him that you could not touch their eyes and so he would only pet the horses after that by putting his hand on top of yours when you pet them. It was pretty fun but next time we will have to remember to bring some food for the horses so we can feed them.
