pop rocket.
Mathias' class was told to decorate a 2 liter for there upcoming school carnival. Mathias was pretty excited to do this and kept telling me about the one his teacher made as an example. We got our little box of craft stuff out and I just let him go to town, only helping when he asked for it. I am so bummed I didn't think to take pictures while he was making it, but at least I remembered to get one of the finished product. He was pretty proud of himself, as I think he should be.

KINDERGARTEN!
I seriously can not believe that my baby boy is in Kindergarten! When did he grow up so fast? I knew I would be on the verge of tears all day since I wanted to cry every time I talked about him going to kindergarten in the weeks before. He was so excited though!
Showing off his new camo back pack.
Got this fun idea of capturing his favorite things on his first day of school on pinterest.
We got there a bit early and they had a boo-hoo breakfast for the parents and kids. Such a fun idea. The kids lined up at their outside door and patiently waited till it was time to go inside. When it was finally time, Mathias waved to me like it was no big deal and just went inside. I had to bite my lip to keep me from crying. It is not very nice to be extra hormonal at times like this. Just saying.
When it was time to go pick him up I had him take me to his class room and show me were he sat and hung his bag etc. He didn't tell me much about his day except it was fun. They sang songs and there are 7 girls in his class and they are all pretty. Seriously, this boy is already girl crazy. We are going to be in some serious trouble in his teenage years!
Then of course we had to get a quick picture with his teacher, Ms. Andrus. This is her first year teaching and she got hired the week before school was to start. Talk about short notice. Mathias loves her.
I am so glad his first day was a success and am looking forward to seeing him learn and grow this year.

dentist
Mathias went to the dentist for the first time today. We went to a pediatric dentist in Orem. Mathias loved that they had tvs on the ceilings as well as some cool picture tile things that light up. He and Azlyn also loved all the big stuffed animals everywhere. I know that he should heave been in before now but we never had dental insurance. Anyways, he was a little nervous but did really well. Unfortunately he has his mammas crappy teeth and will need a lot of work done. Not really looking forward to all that.

crazy hair day
They had a different theme for everyday of the last week of school. Today was crazy hair day. I took Mathias to the party store and let him pick out whatever color he wanted to spray in his hair. He picked neon yellow. He then decided he wanted to do his hair all spiky. When we sprayed his hair the color turned out to be a bit more on the neon green side. Still crazy cool though. He thought it was awesome!

Preschool Graduation
Mathias has gone to Kids Village for the past two years and today is his graduation! He loves this school and is kinda upset that he will be going to a new school next year. I just have to brag about this school for a minute because it is absolutely amazing! It is not only a preschool but also a private school that goes up to 6th grade. Mathias would go to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each day they rotate through a couple of classrooms. The different classes that he would go to are: Science room, computer room, kitchen (they would make something every week that would start with the letter that they learned that week and they also learned about nutrition), art room, music room, as well as his normal class room. He always is talking about what he learned in school. He loves to talk about the planets and also how trees and plants and things grow. He is constantly telling us about beats and rhythms and such that he learned in music class. It has been so much fun for us to see him learning so much and soaking it all in! Anyways, here are a few pictures of his school. I forgot to get pictures of a couple of the rooms and such but you can get the general idea. If you click on the picture you can see a couple of the classrooms a bit better. Also his normal classroom is behind the big tree house.
Isn't he adorable! They are just coming out of the music room to line up on stage.
They sang a bunch of super-cute songs. Mathias didn't sing super loud this time but did awesome on all of the actions. I will try to get a post up of videos of all of the songs.
Azlyn and Grandma Brower watching. Azlyn loved all the songs.
Mathias getting his diploma from his teacher, Ms. Rebecca.
I can't believe that my baby is done with Preschool and is going to Kindergarten in just a few short months!
Mathias and His girlfriend Maggie. He has been in love with her all year long. He tells me that he loves her and that he wants to marry her when he gets older. She missed the deadline by 2 weeks and has to go back to preschool. He is super bummed that she is not going to his new school with him.
Our family with our cute little graduate.
Mathias was pretty excited to give his teacher this vase that I made with the pretty flowers. She loved it and thought the vase was pretty cool.
I seriously can not believe how big my little boy is getting. It is so weird to me that I will have a kid in elementary school in just a few short months!

Mathias says
This is what Mathias told me on the way to dropping him off to preschool today.
"Mom, I want to draw a picture of a flower with me and Maggie on it then put butterfly stickers around it and then cut it out and put it in an envelope and take it to school and give it to Maggie because I love her!"
Already a little romantic! Maybe he can give his dad a few lessons.....

Preschool Graduation Pictures
Mathias' preschool had graduation pictures taken a little bit ago and we got them back today. I can't believe how big Mathias looks in his cap and gown. When did he get so big?!
Here is his class. In case you were wondering, his girlfriend, Maggie, is in the second row right by Miss Rebecca. She has been his girlfriend since last year.

Kindergarten Passport
Today we had Mathias' 5yr/kindergarten check up. He was a little nervous to go to his doctor's appointment because he knew he had to get shots. He went with me to Azlyn's 12 month check up the week before and saw her get shots and was very concerned about it. He did really well though. He said ouch a few times and shed a tear or two but then said, "You are right mom, it wasn't that bad and only hurts for a minute."
Getting him to do a natural smile these days is just about impossible!
The pediatricians office made it a
fun day though. They set this day aside to mostly do kindergarten
appointments. He got a t-shirt and even got to choose what color he
wanted.
After his check up he got to take a picture with his doctor and got a passport for kindergarten.
The top picture is the front and back of it and the bottom picture is the inside. I thought this passport was a really cute idea.
Here are Mathias' stats at 5 years old.
Weight 49.1 lbs = 88.47%
Height 45.38 inches = 86.99%
Mathias is still consistently a pretty big boy for his age!
I seriously cannot believe that my baby boy is going to be in kindergarten this year. That is just so crazy to me!

Mathias says
Today while I was waiting in line to drop off Mathias at preschool we had this conversation.
Mathias has been in love with Maggie since the beginning of the year. He is already so sad that they won't be in the same school anymore and tells us all the time. Only 5 and already heart broken....
M: mom I am so glad I am not going to my new school.
T: you won't go to your new school till after this summer.
M: but mom if I go to a new school then I won't get to see Maggie and hang out with her and then we can't get married.

artist
I just have to brag for a second about my little guy. He is getting really good lately at drawing jeeps and trucks. Check out this Jeep that he drew on the Magna-Doodle. He was so proud of himself!

Maggie
On the way to Target today Mathias and I had this conversation.
M: Mom I wish Maggie and I were together.
T: Oh yeah?
M: Yeah. Then we could spend more time together. We could hang out and she could look at the toys with me at the toy isles in the store.
T: Maybe.
M: And we could go on play dates. Not like real dates, but like play dates.
T: quietly giggling.
M: Mom, what is a play date?
The kid just barely turned 5, we are so in for it when he is a teenager. Man I love this kid!

Patriotic Program
Mathias had his preschool patriotic program today. It was so stinking cute. I haven't heard of half the songs. Mathias didn't sing very loud this time, it was like he was being shy or embarrassed or something. His little girlfriend Maggie sang her cute little heart out though. It was so funny! I actually remembered to bring the video camera this time. I am still learning how to upload videos and such. I got most of them on here except for two or three. For some reason they wouldn't load. Also sorry that they are in kind of a funny layout I couldn't figure out how to fix it. On one of the pictures I showed who Maggie is. I also pointed out Livvie (the one in the hat due to losing her hair from chemo) because Mathias said she was one of his best-est girls too. I love to go to these cute little programs!

Mathias' birthday party with family
Tonight we had a little family birthday party for Mathias. Everyone came over and he opened up presents and then had some cake and ice cream. It is so nice that we have so much family that lives so close to us that we can all get together like this. I love that Mathias is surrounded by his cousins. Thanks everyone that came. It was so nice to hang out for a bit!

Mathias' birthday party with his friends
We had Mathias' friend birthday party at Kangaroo Zoo. It is a basically a big warehouse full of different bounce houses and slides. The kids love it and are able to run around and get ride of some of their energy. He had his birthday party there last year as well but then we went back to our place for pizza, cake and presents. Since we aren't living in our own place this year we decided to rent a birthday room at Kangaroo Zoo. It is kinda pricey (a bit cheaper since we had it on a week day) but I like that I didn't have to decorate, clean up or anything really. They give you a host and she serves up the food and cake, she writes down the names of people that gave what presents, and she cleaned up. Made it really nice for me. The room that Mathias had his party in was called the Bug Box. It was pretty cute. The back wall had a bunch of light up bugs as well as a sun. It had fun lights hanging from the ceiling and the birthday boy had his own little seat front and center.
I took a million pictures so I will mostly let the pictures do the talking.
We got a few pics with him before everyone started showing up (we were actually early, shocker I know). Seriously look how big he is getting!
Mathias wanted a jeep cake. I had much more detailed pictures in my head but soon gave up on those. I am so not a cake decorator and really didn't want to frustrate myself. As long as you could tell it was a jeep I was ok with that. It turned out all right and Mathias loved that it was "driving" on oreo dirt and chocolate candy rocks. Mathias loved it and that is all that mattered.
Mathias and his friends enjoying the bounce houses and slides. They were so fast I could hardly get any good pictures of them.
Mathias having a blast. He said this was his best birthday ever! Mission accomplished!
They had this room right next to the party room. It is called the blast room I think. You put these soft foam type balls into these little air guns and shoot them at each other from different corners of the room. It was Parker and Darcy against Cohen and Mathias.
One of the guns was broken so Mathias and Cohen worked as a team. They had so much fun in there. It was timed though for some reason so they didn't get to play in there for too long.
Proof that Azlyn was there as well. I just love the first picture. Azlyn NEVER sleeps anywhere except for her car seat or crib. She had had a rough day and only had one small nap but I still couldn't believe she feel asleep while Dev held her. She is just so dang cute if I do say so myself ;)
After playing for a bit it was time for pizza and drinks.
After pizza it was time to sing happy birthday then have cake and ice cream.
Then of course it was time to open up presents. He got some really fun stuff. After presents they went out to play for a bit more then we all had to drag our kids out of there. They really didn't want to leave. Thanks to everyone that came. Mathias had a blast playing with the kids and it was nice for us to see and hang out with the parents as well.

Birthday Week
To start off Mathias' birthday celebrations, he had a little party at school. He brought some mini chocolate cupcakes as well as some mini cookies and some little individual red gatorades. The one bonus about having your birthday around Valentines Day is there are tons of treats to choose from. He got a crown to wear at school as well. He decided to wear it like this though. Then the next day, on his actual birthday, we went to Toys-R-Us to pick out a toy. He is in the birthday club there and got a $3 off of $3 or more coupon. He of course picked out a pack of cars that were jeeps and buggies. He also thought the big Lego fireman was pretty cool. When we got to the register to pay and they found out it was his birthday they gave him another crown and a balloon. Lucky guy!

reminiscing
Man I seriously can not believe my beautiful baby boy is 5!
My doctor called me while I was at work on Wed Feb 9th to tell me that she wanted me to go in for a non stress test the next day, Thurs the 10th. She didn't really tell me why and I was so nervous that I forgot to ask. I was such a basket case at that point thinking something was wrong. I remember calling Devin and my mom and they both assured me everything was fine or they would have had me come in right away. When I got there I was told it was to check the amniotic fluid levels. They said all was well. Then later that day my doctor's office called me and wanted me to go in the next day, Fri. the 11th (which was his due date) to check everything out again. When I went in for the second non stress I was contracting every 3 to 5 minutes so they admitted me for an hour to see if I was progressing. I wasn't really progressing so they sent us home and told us if we didn't have a baby by Monday they would induce me. We went and got some lunch and went and walked around the mall in hopes to get things started. No such luck. We went and hung out with my family and got some Cold Stone ice cream then went back to my mom's house. While watching tv at my mom's house my contractions started to get a lot stronger. It was 11:30 p.m. by this point. We decided to go home. I didn't tell anyone about the contractions in case it wasn't the real deal. When we got home I hopped in the shower, got out, packed and just waited for a little while. I really wanted to make sure this was the real deal, I really didn't want to get sent home. I remember the car ride to the hospital. I couldn't believe it was happening. It just didn't seem real to me. The contractions were getting strong but were still pretty bearable. We got admitted to the hospital at about 1:00 a.m. When I got there I was dilated to a 2+ and in an hour I was a 3+ so I got to stay. Yay!! I got my epidural when I was at 5 cm. I was fully dilated to a 10 by 8:00 a.m. however they had me wait 2 HOURS to do what they called rest and descend. Mathias really did not want to drop. He really liked it in my ribs. The nurses finally called my doctor and had him come to the hospital. When he checked me he said, "Well we can either wait till May to have him come on his own or we can use the forceps and get him out in a few minutes." I told him to go ahead and use the forceps. I was done by this point and just really wanted to meet my little boy. The doctor just used the forceps to pull him down enough and turn his head so that I could finally just push him out. Mathias was born at 10:18 a.m. It was so nice to finally meet my beautiful baby boy. Dev got a bit teary eyed and leaned in and gave me a hug. It was such a beautiful moment, one that I will never forget. My mom and step dad, step brother Dylan and his wife Emily and my step sister Kelsey were there all night and were so excited to meet Mathias. He was the first grand-baby for my family. As a side note, when Dylan and Emily left my mom's house that night they drove by our house and noticed our car wasn't there. Then everyone knew that we must be at the hospital and they all came to the hospital shortly after. When we had Mathias we kicked everyone out of the room. My mom really wanted to stay and even tried to be sneaky about it but in the end it was just Dev and I and the nurse and doctor. When the nurse went to open the door to get our family my mom almost fell through the door. She had been standing there with her ear pressed to the door. My mom was wondering what the heck was going on because she could hear us laughing. Our doctor was pretty funny and was joking around with us the whole time. The feeling in the room was so light-hearted. I loved it. His apgar test were pretty good. They had to check his hearing twice but it turned out good and he was fine. He also had a touch of jaundice. We stayed in the hospital for 2 days. On the first night Dev was apparently super tired. I tried to get Dev's attention in the middle of the night because Mathias was crying and I couldn't reach him and was too sore and still kinda numb to get him. We ended up letting the nurse take him to the nursery for the first night. I was just too tired and frustrated and hadn't slept at all for over 24 hrs. I remember Mathias did not want to eat at all. He really just wanted to sleep so the nurses would wake him up and make him really mad which would only last for a second and then he would go back to sleep. This was really frustrating for me. I really wanted them to leave him alone. I knew he would eat when he were ready.
We were all kinda surprised that Mathias came out with a head full of red hair. We thought he would have dark hair and dark eyes. Instead it was red hair and dark eyes. Such a cute baby! Anyways that is pretty much the whole story in a nut shell. Now for some pictures!
