Poor Kitty!

We have had our kitty since Mathias was about 18 months old. He has never paid her much attention until recently.

Poor Izzie can not even be anywhere near Mathias without him trying to pick her up and give her loves. Sure that is pretty cute unless the kitty does not want to be held which happens more often than not. So if he gets scratched he knows it is his fault because we repeatedly tell him to put her down.

Also he thinks it is fun lately to chase her with his jeeps or his huge metal tonka truck. I am really getting tired of repeatedly telling him to leave her alone.

*Update: He has been pretty good at leaving her alone lately. If we are sitting on the couch and she comes up to us instead of trying to hold her I tell him to lay really still and she will lay on him. He thinks this is pretty cool.

fun at Memas

Mema had surgery yesterday and I spent the day and night over at her place taking care of her. Dev and Mathias came over this morning with the black Friday ads and hung out for a bit before we went over to his moms house for Thanksgiving.

Mathias took the lid/hat off of the Big Mr. Potato head and put it on, he then told me to take a picture and even after I did he kept telling me to take more pictures. This is out of the ordinary for him lately so I thought I would post a picture of it because he wanted it and he actually would look at the camera for once.
I was kinda shocked (even though I shouldn't have been) at how fast Mathias trashed the place. This was only after he had been there for maybe a half hour. At least he was entertaining himself and not trying to climb on Mema.

gymnastics

I really think I should get Mathias into gymnastics this coming year. He tries to walk a straight line on the sidewalk curbs, he tries to do the splits and somersaults.
And apparently he likes tumbling and rolling and came up with this all on his own the other day.

He is a pretty creative and active little (not so little) guy! We need to put all that energy into some good use.

Apparently Izzie Kitty has a new hiding place. I can not blame her though since lately Mathias refuses to leave her alone.

Mr. Independent.

Mathias is my Mr. independent. He has to climb into and out of his carseat all by himself. He has to unlock our front door with our keys (and he knows which key it is without me telling him) when we come home. He basically has to do everything himself...except for getting dressed or undressed. That is the one thing he really does not care to do himself.
We usually take off his shirt when we eat as to avoid stains so we can pass down nice clean clothes to the next kid.

The other morning I told him that breakfast was almost ready and he came running into the kitchen, sat right down on the floor and started taking of his jammies. This was the first time he has ever even tried to get undressed so of course I had to document it.
I know that one day we might wish that he never learned how to undress himself but for now this is a pretty big deal.

Fireman

Mathias came running in the living room the other day with the thing that covers plates in the microwave on his had saying "look mom I am a fireman!". I have no idea where he learned that firemen where hats but he sure is cute!

picky eater

Mathias has been the pickiest eater lately! I have been struggling to find things lately that he will eat for a main meal. He is pretty good about eating his fruits and a few veggies but it is that main dish that we struggle with.

However lately a favorite of his is Mickey Mouse pancakes and fresh pears. At least this is semi healthy since we use wheat pancake mix.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what a picky eater might eat that are semi nutritious? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Twilight movie premier

Thanks to my very talented sister-in-law, we were able to attend the Twilight movie premiere at 7:00 P.M. Thursday. She was able to rent out two theaters and even put together prizes that you could win. She even had everyone coming wear either red, black or white.

When you walked into the theaters you were greeted by some cute girlie's handing out lanyards to everyone.

Depending on what was on the back of your lanyard you could win a prize. Here she is giving out Bella's perfume.
If you had a black squiggly you got a bookmark. If you had a red squiggly you got a $5 gift card to Jordan Commons.

If it said Jacob, Bella or Edwards you got a little gift basket.
Bella's-red sparkly blanket, first aid kit because she's always getting hurt
Edwards black sparkly blanket, all that glitters body spray called sexy! and sweet mint gum because his breath is so sweet
Jacobs had abrown fuzzy blanket, rain and meadow scented febreeze for his stank! and kleenex because he's such a cry baby
Here is a list of a few other prizes she had:
ice cold arctic chill gum/fiery red hot cinnamon gum packs
lion and lamb stuffed animals-because as you know the lion fell in love with the lamb.

For the irritable grizzles um I mean guys she passed out a bag of gummy bears. Seriously, doesn't her creativity just drive you crazy? If only I had like 10% of her creativity!
Here is a picture of part of our little group after the movie ended.
I thought it was an alright movie. I thought that it was a bit cheesy and a bit of bad acting but all in all it was very fun to go see. I think that the books are definitely better than the movie, as they usually are.

Carrie Underwood Concert

Mom got us some Carrie Underwood concerts tickets for my birthday. It was such a good concert.

Look how excited we are, aren't we just so cute.

Little Big Town opened for her. They were so good. I decided that I need to get a few new CD's once the whole concert was over.

She had this cool little count down to let us know when she would be on. It was nice to know how much time we had in case we needed a bathroom break or wanted to buy something.

She brought this little 14 year old girl on stage to help her sing All American Girl. It was very cute and fun. I would have died of stage fright but she sang her little heart out.

Here are a few more random pictures from the night. Sorry they are not the best quality, I just had my little ol' point and shoot camera.

Truly Inspiring

I saw this on Oprah a few weeks back and bawled my eyes out. I could not even imagine (nor do I want to) what this family has been through. I am very amazed by how they reacted to the diagnoses and how they celebrated every single second and day that they got to spend with their precious son. I love that they got it all on film and will be able to cherish him forever and show other siblings and family members. I could only hope that I would be able to react in that same way if I ever had to. Their family truly is an inspiration.

The video is kind of long but very worth watching. It makes me realize how lucky I am for having a healthy little boy even if he does drive me crazy at times.

Incredible weather

I can not belive this incredible weather we are having today. It is the middle of November and it is supposed to be about 60 degrees today. So Mathias and I ventured out to a park today to enjoy this nice, beautiful day. Mathias would not even let me put a jacket on him saying it is warm outside. While we were there they were mowing the grass and had a machine that was picking up all the leaves. Mathias loved watching them and then he remembered which house had dogs to play with from the last time. Man I am enjoying getting to spend some time with him.

I spoke too soon

The other night as we were eating dinner at the table Dev pointed to the wall and said, "I wonder how long that has been there?" It could have happened at anytime. Usually when he is coloring, he is sitting at the table and I am doing dishes or something. I can not believe that we have not noticed it sooner unless it is pretty new. Apparently I have to start hiding the crayons in higher drawers, my tall little guy can reach just about anything these days. At least it is pretty light and will come off easily.

Can you see it ? There is one spot to the side and one spot on top of the trim. It is in a really light green. You can see it better if you click on the picture.

a new fun thing to do

Mathias has never been one to sit down and want to color and draw like a lot of kids his age do. I think the reason for this is that it involves sitting down for longer than 30 seconds. However, recently Mathias will either ask to color or get it out himself. The other day when I found him in the living room, he had gotten the church bag and dumped it all out just so he could find his bug coloring book and color. At least he was coloring in his book!

happy times

Tonight, after we got Mathias out of the bath and we were getting him ready for bed, he was fighting Dev about putting on his diaper. So Dev asked if he wanted to go pee in the big boy potty (we ask on occasion when he fights his diaper) and tonight he said yes. And guess what, tonight he actually peed in it for the first time! He sat on it for about 15 minutes, I swear, and every couple of minutes he would pee a little bit. It seemed like the kid had a never ending bladder but I didn't care how long it took if he was still peeing in the potty. I still don't think we will start potty training until the holidays are over and hopefully I can stay home. I just think it will be too much work with being gone all the time throughout the holidays and having three different people trying to potty train him. But, then again, if he is ready, we will do it.

Of course I had to get a picture of it. (side note: I really wanted to get a picture of it because hello! it is a big deal but was afraid to because Dev tells me all the time to stop taking so many pictures. But this time he was the one to suggest getting the camera. Love it!)

Look how proud he is of himself.
Man, I love this little boy and am so proud of him! I just wish I could freeze time for a little bit. It is sad for me to realize that he is not my little baby anymore and that he really is growing up.

A new place to sit

The other night, Dev and I were eating dinner a bit late, and yes in front of the TV, when Mathias decided that he had found a new place to sit. Apparently it is the perfect place to stretch out, prop your feet up, and relax.

Peek a boo

Mathias' thing to do lately is to take the cushions off of the couch and either play with his cars on the cushion-less couch or on the cushions. Sometimes if I am around when he is doing this then we will pretend like he is hiding and that I can not see him. He loves this.

"Where did Mat Mat go?"

"There I am!"

mustache

Mathias had koolaid for the first time (to my knowledge anyways) and it left a big ol' red mustache. I just thought that was cute for some reason and just reminds me of being a kid.

A reason to be happy

Today, Mathias and I met Dev up in Draper for lunch . On the way back we both needed to get some gas so we stopped at a Chevron on 123rd. Guess how much gas was.... come on, guess. It was only 2.06. How awesome is that. It only cost my $22 to completely fill up my car. Happy day! This summer it took me $42 to fill up. That is slashed in half now. Keep those gas prices coming on down!!

(I took this picture with my phone so it is not the absolute best)

edit: now Devin has seen gas at $1.91 in Murray. How low will it go?!

Family pictures

We had our family pictures done in the middle of September and it took us a while to decide which ones we wanted so we just bought the CD of all of them. We got the CD a week or so ago and I am just now getting around to posting some of them. We usually go for the fall leaves kinda country feel and I was ready for something new. This is exactly what I wanted this year, something fun and urban and just totally different from everything I have seen before.
WARNING:
there are a ton of pictures because as always I can not make up my mind on which ones I like the best so I just posted all of the ones I love.

My two incredibly HANDSOME boys. Man I just love them so much!

Yup that is right we are laying in the middle of the street in the ghetto of Salt Lake. Very creative.
(please excuse the hair, he messed it up by the time we started taking pictures)
One of the very seldom times we actually got him to look at the camera for a total of two seconds.
My incredibly sexy hubby! Love you babe!
One of our many attempts for a family picture, however Mathias is in his own little world, as usual.
Aww, what a cute couple we make...

My stud of a brother. He is single, ladies...
One of the last shots of the night. I think there was an airplane flying by so getting Mathias' attention was impossible.
Yup, my son is trying to lick me. This is also one of the last shots of the night and he was just so beyond done. Sadly this is the only shot I got with him.
My incredibly beautiful mom. Doesn't she have the coolest color of eyes, they are kinda turquoise.
Seriously he should be a model!
This is kinda a cool building to take pictures at. However, when Dustin was getting down he kinda ripped part of the wood frame away from the wall
Mathias loves to smell flowers. He can't pass one with out smelling it first. It does not matter if that flower happens to be a weed.
My beautiful mom and handsome brother.
Me and my mom.
Another attempt at a family shot. I actually like this one. It just shows how Mathias is at this age. Does not really care about what is going on around him when he finds something that he is interested in.
The three studly guys of the family.
For everyone that asks where his red hair comes from, now do you see?
Such a fun and hip mom.
(he climbed a power pole and this is where it was taken)

This picture makes me laugh. It is just SO Dustin. He has "posed" like this since he was little. LOVE IT!
Seriously wish I had those eyes mom. I love the look on Mathias' face, like "what?".
The first attempt at a family picture.
This occurs often. Mom and I will bust up laughing and he has no idea what is going on. But hey, it is good to laugh often!
