It was such a gorgous day outside Monday. It was not too hot and daddy was home so we decided to take advantage of that and have a little picnic. We went up Provo Canyon to a park, laid out our stuff, ate lunch, played, ran around, and threw rocks and sticks into the river. It was so much fun! I think we will have to do this more often!

Fathers Day
how sad is that on fathers day this is the only picture I have of Devin
Fathers day was a pretty relaxing and fun one. We had planned on just hanging out at home and not really doing much. However mom called and said her and Grandma wanted to go to Sundance and ride the lifts and wanted to take us. It was such a beautiful day, how could we resist? I was a little nervous to take Mathias on the lift because the kid is not afraid of anything and never really sits still. He loved it and would point out everything that he saw. He would also get mad at me for holding onto him. We got off near the top and walked around for a bit before going back down. Then mom took us to Macaroni Grill for dinner. Yummy. Thanks for such a fun Father's Day, mom.For Father's Day I got Dev a 100 oz mug filled with his favorite treats - Starbursts, Peanut Butter m&ms, and a pound of dill-flavored sunflowers seeds. I also got him a gift card to fill up the mug a few times. The story behind the huge mug: Dev has had a 52 oz mug since his mission. It finally gave out and got a huge crack in it so I wanted to replace it. I decided to get the huge one because he would always get after me for drinking out of his old one so I figured I would get us the huge one to share so he couldn't complain anymore. This huge mug will last both of us all day! He also went out and bought a 52 oz one for just him.

Pleasant Grove Carnival
Mathias and Liz are so cute together. They held hands almost the whole time. They have so much fun together and Mathias loves playing with her. He is such a little flirt!
Yay for nice weather finally. When we pulled up Mathias was so excited to go on the rides. He was mesmerized by (if I remember the name correctly) the Ring of Fire. It was a big circle and the train-type thing just went around in a circle and and upside down. He was a bit disappointed when I told him that he was too small for that ride. The first ride that we did go on was perfect for him. It was 4x4 Land and they got to ride in little jeep-type deals. Heaven! Then the next one was the car and motorcycle merry-go-round. They both loved the motorcycles. Next was the dragon mini roller coaster. We were a bit anxious to see how the kids would do on that. Mathias loved it and wanted to go again, Liz didn't like it so much. Next was the train and then the big yellow slide that you go down in burlap sacks. Mathias was a bit nervous when he found out that he was going on that all by himself but once he was down he begged to go on it again. However, we were out of tickets. The tickets where outrageously priced - it was like 10 for $15. Crazy. We had to try deep-fried Twinkies before coming back to our place for shakes and a round of Phase Ten. It was such a fun day!

PG Strawberry Days Rodeo

We went to the rodeo with a bunch of our friends from Dev's soccer team. We got lucky and went on the one night that it was not raining. In fact, it was pretty nice weather. Our seats weren't that great. The were just to the side and behind the announcer box so we didn't get to see a lot of the bull rides and it was really hard to get any good pictures because we were really high up and the fence or a big metal pole was right in the way. Oh well, it was really nice to get out and hang out with friends and have a night without Jr. I LOVE the horse in the first picture. It was so pretty and would pretty much let that clown do whatever he wanted to it. I told Dev I wanted to take it home and Brian suggested we keep it on our 2x2 balcony. Hmmm, don't think that will go over really well with the HOA.
I was not aware that motorcycles were a part of rodeos. Although I do think they are just as crazy as the guys riding the animals. They did some pretty cool tricks and jumps as you can see from the pictures. I am kinda frustrated that the pics aren't that great, I need to figure out my camera and not just use the auto setting.

swimming
Today we had a surprise birthday party for my Aunt Lori at her brother-in-law's house. It was such a nice house with a swimming pool, trampoline, little playground , hammock, and a lot of lounging area. It was so nice! We had so much fun hanging out with a ton of my family. We don't get together all that often for not living very far apart, we need to work on that.
This was only the second time swimming this summer - stupid rain - and the first time that Mathias wore the little floaties on his arms. He was pretty nervous and kept saying that he was sinking a little. He did not trust them that much but I think he was slowly getting used to the idea that he was not going to sink. Looks like we will have to go swimming lots so he gets used to them and to not be afraid of the deep water.
Happy Birthday Lori!!

Orem Summer Fest
We decided to head out and chance the rain and go to the Orem Summer Fest and see how Mathias would do on some rides. We have never really taken him on any rides besides a train and a merry go round.

Once we got there he ran straight to the ambulance. He was so excited when he found out he could go in it. I love the huge smile on his face in the picture. Next we went to the fire truck, but for some reason he would not get inside that one. He would sit or stand on it though.
He then saw all these "old jeep sings (things)" and it was over from there. We had to get in everyone and drive them. I think this was the big hit of the day!
Time to try some rides. First we did the Merry-go-round. While on this ride the wind started to pick up and the clouds started rolling in. Mathias and I still wanted to try the strawberry rides. Once we were waiting in line though, the skies got really dark and it started raining... then pouring. They let us take shelter in the strawberry and see if it would stop raining but it didn't so Dev ran to get the car and we all ran as fast as we could to get in. We still got soaked! It was raining so hard! Oh well, we will have to try the rides at Strawberry Days.
Orem Parade
After the rained out carnival, we went home, took a nap, and hoped that the rain would go away for the parade. Sure enough, it stopped raining for a little bit so we decided to take a chance and went to the Orem parade.

construction zone!
Dev's brother Scott and his wife Melanie are adding onto their house. We went over the day that they broke ground so Mathias could watch the big tractor. He loved that. Then Rob (the guy driving) asked if he would like to ride in it. He was kinda nervous at first, then loved it. Rob told him not to touch anything and he was so good, Mathias would either keep his hands on Rob's knees or lay them flat against his own legs so he would not even come close to touching anything. I am so glad we went over and he got to experience this! He was in little boy heaven!
