Trick or Treat

When I was growing up I went trick or treating with my Aunt Lori and my cousins. It has been really fun to carry on this tradition. Mathias gets to go trick or treating with my cousin's kids. The group this year was a little bigger than last since some of my cousins and their family just moved into town.

We took a few family pictures just before starting out. They are a little blurry because the camera was on the wrong setting and I didn't notice till later. We actually really lucked out with the weather. My aunt lives in Salt Lake and as we were driving over the point of the mountain it was pouring down rain. When we got there it was still raining a little. But by the time we finished our yummy chili dinner that Lori made the rain had mostly stopped. It only sprinkled on us for maybe the first two houses. Azlyn did great and was just content to stay in her stroller all bundled up.

Mathias had a blast as usual. He knows exactly what to do and ran from house to house as fast as he could then came back to show us what he got. We were definitely a site to see. I think there were about just as many adults as there was kids. Our group was huge!

We attempted to get a group picture of the kids after we were done trick or treating. I think it is hard enough trying to get a decent group picture of kids but add that they were tired kids that just wanted to check out their loot and it was basically impossible. They were all done by this point. Also I have to brag about my cute cousin Krysta. She made all 4 of those cat costumes! I think they are awesome and look store bought; in fact people thought that they were. I was seriously impressed.

Cornbellies '10

First trip 10/13/10

Cornbellies has become an October tradition for us. This is our 4th year going. We started going when Mathias was about 20 months old. It was so much fun to be able to bring both kiddos this year. This year we bought season passes which lets you go as many times as you would like. I got them on City Deals for half off which ended up only being about $1 more than a weekend day pass so I couldn't pass it up. We were only able to go three times due to rainy and cold weather but we still got our money's worth. Every time we went we did a few different things as well as some stuff over and over again.

Here is our cute little family. It's kinda hard to get them all looking at the same time. I should have asked someone to take a picture for us so that I would've been in the pic too, but oh well.

A quick picture of the kiddos.

Azlyn was so good! She was so content the whole time. She just loved being outside.

The boys on the little pedal go cart things. Boys will never grow up . I think Dev had just as much if not more fun on these things than Mathias did.

Cornball, which is basically volleyball with huge bouncy balls. They were actually kinda hard to get over the haystacks.

Here we are playing in and on the tunnels.

My cute little family watching someone on the mechanical bull. Man I love them!

Playing on the slides. I think Azlyn liked it. She didn't complain anyways. This was her first time down a slide.

Going on the hayride. It was so bouncy! Dev tried to cradle Azlyn so she wouldn't bounce around too much. I love the concerned look on her face.

Some more cute random pictures.

The tricycles. Mathias would push them up the little hill and then ride them down over and over and over again. Out of everything this ended up being his favorite for some reason. We did this for a while every time we came.

The bouncy pillows were also a hit. Although they changed things a bit this year and only let the little kids jump on the huge pillow and the adults and big kids (which since Mathias is so tall he is considered a big kid) to jump on the medium pillow. It was kinda dumb and backwards but what can you do.

Seeing how the kids measured up this year. Mathias really didn't want to do this hence the reason he looks so happy in his picture. Azlyn on the other hand was grinning from ear to ear.

Playing in the corn. Mathias loves to bury himself in it. Azlyn was just happy to participate in something.

Mathias played in this little store for about half a second. Then it got really cold and was time to go home.

Second trip 10/20/10

Playing in the old fire truck. He would try to work the pedals, clutch and wheel like he knew exactly what he was doing.

While Mathias played on the tricycles again I attempted to get some pictures of Little Miss Azlyn.

Here are some more.

This time we went and watched the pig races. It was nothing spectacular but still fun to see.

Love Azlyn's surprised look.

Going on a tractor ride. This one was not as bumpy.

Another bigger corn box. Mathias had fun doing somersaults in here.

He was so worn out that he was sound asleep within minutes of being in the car.

Third trip 10/29/10

On this trip we went through the corn maze. We started out in the kiddie section then hopped the fence into the main big one. We let Mathias lead the way through most of it. We thought it was pretty funny that we let a 4 year old tell us where to go.

Here is Mathias picking a corn once he found out that there was still corn on them.

We didn't bring the stroller this time so we rented a wagon for a bit. Sis slept through a lot of it so when she finally woke up we took some pictures of the kiddos.

Here are some more pictures of our family in the corn maze. We actually spent a lot of time in there and then cheated our way to get out. That is what we get for letting a 4 year old lead us and not really caring.

This was right outside of the maze and Mathias actually wanted to take a picture so I could not pass it up. Unfortunately he is into this really awesome cheeser stage so this is the best smile I was able to get.

He kept asking to pull sister but he would run and not pay very much attention to her so it didn't last long.

Playing in the giant spider web.

It is seriously so hard to get both kids looking at the camera, smiling and not blinking at the same time. I don't know how people to do it. So these are the best I got of the kiddos together this time. I finally also asked someone to take a picture for us so we could finally get a family shot. We had so much fun going to Cornbellies and it doesn't hurt that Mathias gets to burn a lot of energy. It should be really fun next year when Azlyn will be able to run around!

Preschool Halloween performance and party

Today was Mathias' preschool Halloween performance, then after his performance was his Halloween party that I got to help out with.

Here is our "scary floaty ghost," as Mathias calls it, and our little pumpkin. I figured since the rest of the kids were dressing up and since it took me a while to make her costume that she should dress up as well and get as much use out of it as I can. I loved that Mathias was making ghost noises as I was taking pictures of him.

Here is his class doing their cute little songs. I am so bummed I could not find our camcorder charger to record it and halfway through the performance my lens broke on my camera. I was not able to zoom out or in, it was just jammed. Oh well, at least I was able to get a few pics anyways, even though they are not the best.

We started off the party playing "chocolate, chocolate, cherry" or most commonly known as duck, duck, goose. Mathias didn't want to play at first but then found out that it was really fun. He is definitely my child in that he does not like to be the center of attention sometimes when it comes to playing games, which is just weird because any other time this kid is so not shy. After this game they played Pin the Candy Corn Nose on the Pumpkin, which Mathias did not participate in.

This is what I brought for the class to do. I cut up white, yellow, orange, green and black tissue paper and printed out pumpkin, candy corn, bat and cat pictures. We put the tissue paper in bowls on the tables let the kids pick out which picture they wanted to do and then let them glue the tissue paper on the pictures. It turned out to be a pretty big hit. Here is a copy of Mathias' cat.

Then after our craft another mom brought in some cookies and let the kids frost them and put sprinkles on them. Yum, the kids of course loved it! What a fun party for them!

This is Mathias and his little girlfriend Maggie. He loved to hold her hand and follow her around. Seriously.... I can't believe we are already dealing with this.

trunk or treat

Our "scary floating ghost" and our little pumpkin!

Tonight was our ward's trunk or treat. Here is a quick picture of the kiddos just before we left. The sheet over the head didn't last very long. It kept sliding down so Dev just cute a hole in it and then we painted Mathias' face white.
p.s. here is a pic or all of our pumpkins since I forgot to take one on the night that we carved them.

When we got there there was a bunch of people so we had to wait a minute for a few more tables to get set up. They had a ton of different chillies that people brought as well as bread-sticks from Olive Garden for dinner.

After Dinner was the kids Halloween costume parade. There are a ton of kids in this ward!

This was the first year we had homemade costumes. Mathias' obviously wasn't too hard or time consuming but Azlyn's on the other hand took some time. I made the tulle halter dress, dyed the socks and onsie and the leggings were out of the $1 bin at Target. It didn't turn how exactly as I pictured it but not bad for my first time making something.

This was my favorite costume. Micheal Phelps complete with all of his gold medals. I just thought it was pretty creative.

After the costume parade it was time to go out side for the trunk or treat. I took Mathias around while Dev handed out candy. Azlyn was sound asleep the whole time. There was actually a pretty good turn out and Mathias made a pretty good haul.

I had Dev take a some pictures when we were across the parking lot from him.

After Mathias made his way around all the cars he wanted to help Dev hand out the candy. The weather was actually pretty decent and it turned out to be a pretty fun night.

Pumpkins 2010

Mathias has been begging to carve our pumpkins for a couple of days now so we finally decided to do it after dinner tonight.

Here are the cute kiddos while dad and I were getting everything all set up.

As you can tell by the super big cheeser on Mathias' face he was really excited. He still does not like touching all the guts but did more this time than he has done in the past.

Of course Azlyn wanted to taste the pumpkin. She actually didn't seem to mind and kinda got mad when I took it away from her.

Dev thought I was crazy but I really wanted to try and get a picture with Azlyn in a pumpkin. It was the perfect width but a little too deep, she was kinda resting on her little underarms. It was all over in 30 seconds so she really didn't care.

Here is our little fam carving pumpkins.

Mathias is obviously still too young to do any of the carving himself but he did like that he got to help poke the pattern onto the pumpkin. It didn't last too long though before he was over doing that. Maybe next year we will paint pumpkins. Not sure why we haven't done that before. Here is Mathias' pumpkin. I forgot to take pictures of all of them when we were done but hopefully I will get a picture of them soon.
